The Lake (Embden Pond

What is called a pond in New England is generally considered a lake by people elsewhere.  Embden Pond measures nearly five miles long and has a surface area of 1568 acres.  Its maximum depth is 180 feet, but the shores slope gently so that swimming and wading are easy and convenient.

Embden Pond offers some of the best fishing in the state.  Wild Salmon, Trout, Bass, Perch, and Pickerel are abundant in the lake and are supplemented by regular stocking of Brook Trout and Landlocked Salmon from nearby Embden Fish Rearing Station (hatchery).  Ice fishing is popular in winter.  A public boat launch is available on the lake and you can keep your boat at your own boat slip in front of the cabin.  Canoeing and kayaking are also popular activities on the lake.
